Kate Morgan
Biography
Having obtained her first degree in fine art, Kate subsequently studied at postgraduate level at the Glasgow School of Art and then at Falmouth University where she was awarded her Masters degrees. Morgan’s work is held in private collections internationally.
Artist Statement
Kate Morgan RI’s work celebrates nature, fusing colour and imagination to convey the lushness and beauty of the natural world. Her complex compositions portray plants, animals and insects found in a variety of global habitats, with increasing reference to indigenous and endangered species.
Extensive research informs each painting, while Morgan reimagines habitats and plant life from a new perspective, blending the real with the unreal. Her richly detailed compositions invite the viewer to continually discover something new, with small details and creatures hidden within dense foliage.
Morgan aims for her paintings to have an immediate visual impact while also rewarding closer investigation. The vibrant, intricate and overgrown worlds she creates encourage the viewer to look more closely and discover details that may not be apparent at first glance.
