Support the RI

The Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI) is a collective of professional artists and a registered charity (No. 291405), founded in 1831. As a Member Society of the Federation of British Artists based at Mall Galleries, our charitable aim is “the advancement of the aesthetic education of the public by the promotion of the fine arts and in particular the art of painting in watercolours.”
Through our Annual Exhibition, educational initiatives, workshops and public programmes, we are committed to promoting excellence across a broad range of water-based media, including watercolour, ink, gouache and other water-soluble materials.
The RI relies on the generosity of individuals, organisations and supporters who share our belief in the importance of arts education and the continuing relevance of water-based media within contemporary culture.
Your support enables us to continue our educational work, provide opportunities for artists at all stages of their careers, encourage emerging talent and widen public engagement with watercolour painting.
