Workshops
The Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours presents a programme of workshops and learning opportunities designed to support artists at every stage of their practice — from those taking their first steps in watercolour to experienced painters wishing to develop new skills and approaches.
Workshops During the RI Annual Exhibition
Alongside the RI Annual Exhibition at Mall Galleries, the RI presents a series of watercolour workshops led by RI Members and invited artists. These practical sessions offer opportunities to explore a wide range of subjects, techniques and approaches in water-based media, from landscape, portraiture and observational drawing to more innovative and expressive ways of working. Workshops are designed to encourage both technical development and individual creativity. Previous workshops have included sketchbook practice, expressive portraiture, plein air approaches, colour exploration and mixed-media processes.
Information about exhibition workshops and booking details will be available here when the Annual Exhibition programme is announced.
Workshops by RI Members
Throughout the year, RI Members deliver workshops independently, sharing their expertise, methods and individual approaches to watercolour and water-based media. These workshops cover a wide range of subjects and are suitable for artists of different experience levels — from beginners developing confidence with materials through to more advanced practitioners refining their skills.
Workshop formats vary according to the artist and may include demonstrations, practical exercises, studio-based learning, outdoor sketching and individual feedback.
