Artist Statement
Painting has been Vicente Garcia Fuentes’ passion since childhood and remains a vital means of communication. His artist residency scholarship in Iceland was a catalyst for immersing himself in the region’s dynamic atmosphere and landscapes, which he captured through watercolour.
He seeks to distill the essence of the landscapes that inspire him, with particular emphasis on their interplay with light. Glaciers, skies, ice, seas, volcanoes and ships feature prominently in his work, with compositions frequently changing to express his emotions more accurately.
His artistic vision is in a state of perpetual growth. He aims to invest a piece of his soul in every work, whilst cherishing his vocation as a painter and following in the footsteps of the great masters of painting history.
